We are going to be starting a new and exciting project in Year 4/5/6 where we are going to attempt to compress and edit our creative thoughts into only 140 characters to represent the social networking phenomenon that is Twitter. Mr. Roberts is going to set up a Twitter account for this project @lps140club where our work will be displayed for the wider world. We will be working on two projects:
1. Can we write an account of the feelings that were provoked by watching a moving image / animation / film using only 140 characters without compromising the meaning of our original feelings?
2. Are we able to condense a key question that we would like to ask our favourite celebrity into just 140 characters? Will the celebrities respond?
Q. What are characters? A. On Twitter, characters represent every single letter, space, punctuation mark etc... Here is an example: There are 29 characters here.

Here is a Twitter stream of our Tweets:
The first video which the children will be writing their 140 character responses to is 'Pings' by ExMachina.
Some responses: Shauna: I found this video intresting because the chicks annoyed the penguin too much so the penguin kicked one of the chicks in the dark blue sea . Sophy: If I was one of the chicks I would feel naughty and devious. I would keep being annoying until the penguin's head explodes! Ha, ha, ha! Jordan Watts: If I was the penguin I would feel annoyed because the chicks kept on saying "Beep, beep, beep!" I would drop kick a chick to the shark. Mathew: I would be shocked and petrified. I would feel sad. If I could go back in time I wouldn't beep again to the mum penguin. Erin: If I was the penguin I would feel stressed because all they were saying was "Beep!" I would want to push them in the water.

Week 2: 140 Character questions to celebrities. The class was split into groups and given the task to identify categories of celebrities and search if they had Twitter accounts. They then had to choose one each from the same category and then come up with a 140 character question that would be relevant to all. They were tweeted to the celebs and we now await any replies.
